10 Songs We Can't Wait to Hear at PNE Fair

Summer wouldn’t be complete without rocking out to some live music!

Summer Night Concerts are coming to the GMC Stage every evening during the PNE Fair with big names like Chicago, The Beach Boys, Chaka Khan & Patti Labelle, and more. The open-air PNE Amphitheatre with golden-hour views of the North Shore Mountains is about as good as it gets for late summer entertainment.

Don’t miss this awesome opportunity to see some of your favourite acts with hits that span decades. There’s everything from ‘90s hip hop to country, plus the Stars of Drag and VSO doing the music of the Beatles. We don’t blame you for wanting to attend them all!

The B-52s – Love Shack

The B-52s have been pioneering alternative and punk sound, fashion, and culture since their debut in the late ‘70s. Their catchy smash-hit “Love Shack” took The B-52s mainstream and has been a cheeky karaoke classic ever since. Don’t miss this chance to see the band perform “Love Shack” live, as this will be their Farewell Tour.

Barenaked Ladies – If I Had $1,000,000

The Barenaked Ladies are a classic Canadian band with true longevity. You can’t help but smile at the cheery strums and cheeky lyrics of their hit “If I Had $1,000,000”…even if $1,000,000 doesn’t go as quite as far as it did in 1992. The Barenaked Ladies will be joined by Canadian rock legend Kim Mitchell for an unforgettable Summer Night Concerts performance.

CAKE – Short Skirt/Long Jacket

CAKE’s sardonic alt-rock sound, led by John McCrea, is perfected in the 2001 single “Short Skirt/Long Jacket.” Whether you come to jam out to CAKE’s impressive catalog of music, or you just need some outfit inspiration, it’s sure to be a good show.

Brothers Osborne – 21 Summer

These two talented brothers have country music in their genes and souls. These nine-time GRAMMY nominees have been pioneering country-rock sound for the last few years with jams like “Stay A Little Longer,” “It Ain’t My Fault,” and the heartfelt “21 Summer.”

Gipsy Kings feat. Nicolas Reyes – Bamboleo

This long-standing Spanish rock group lead by Nicolas Reyes has sold more than 14 million albums and even won a Grammy for Best World Music Album in 2013. Without a doubt, their most popular song globally is the passionate Spanish rock hit “Bamboleo.” Tap your toes and sway your hips to the Gipsy Kings’ sultry Flamenco-style guitar and fast-paced percussion.

Steve Miller Band – The Joker

Steve Miller Band’s recognizable hit “The Joker” represents the subversive tone of this long-standing rock band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. “The Joker” has been an anthem for people who walk to the beat of their own drum for decades and so has become an enduring favourite alongside the band’s many popular tracks.

TLC – No Scrubs

This top ‘90s R&B girl group has always brought unparalleled cool and smooth hip-hop sounds. As the best-selling American girl group of all time, TLC has quite a few hits like “Waterfalls,” “Creep,” and “Unpretty”… however, the song you can’t wait to belt out with your besties is probably their empowering ‘90s hit “No Scrubs.” TLC will be joined by reggae/pop icon Shaggy (“It Wasn’t Me”; “Boombastic”).

Nelly – Country Grammar

Nelly’s debut jams are the ultimate 2000’s throwbacks and summer dance tracks. We’re looking forward to busting a move to “Country Grammar” and some of Nelly’s other top hits like “Dilemma,” “Hot in Herre,” and diamond-selling country crossover jam “Cruise” (with Florida Georgia Line).

The Beach Boys – 60 Years of the Sounds of Summer – Surfin’ USA

California dreamers will be delighted to hear that The Beach Boys are bringing their “60 Years of the Sounds of Summer” tour to the GMC Stage. Throw on your surf shorts and dive into ‘60s beach tunes like “I Get Around,” “Surfer Girl,” and “Good Vibrations,” and The Beach Boy’s classic California anthem “Surfin’ USA.”

Chaka Khan – Ain’t Nobody

The Queen of Funk herself will be joining us, alongside powerhouse Patti Labelle, for a soul-filled Summer Night Concerts finale. Get ready to dance to the funky classic “Ain’t Nobody.” Chaka Khan and Patti Labelle are sure to bring down the house with their powerful voices and soulful lyrics—don’t miss out!
