PNE Grounds

The PNE’s vast array of landscapes, parks, gardens and backdrop of mountains as well as our unique buildings and structures on site lend well to Vancouver’s reputation as being able to double as any city on earth for filming and commercial shoots.

The site includes the Italian Gardens with a Bocce court and playground, a traditional garden, Momiji Gardens, a 10-acre sanctuary as well as a very popular skateboard park.

Filming Rental Rates

$2,500-$5,000 daily

  • Limited area shoot

10% administration fee additional and applied to all charges.

Guidelines

SANCTUARY

  • As this area is ecologically sensitive, we have prepared strict guidelines for productions wishing to film. Please contact the PNE representative with any questions. A full site-tour will be required prior to permitting any filming on site, after which all aspects will be reviewed for consideration.
  • As a general rule of thumb, filming must be within the parameters of work PNE would normally do for maintenance. e.g., a boat can be placed in the pond, however there can be no walking on nor anchoring to, the pond floor.
  • The shoreline is strictly off limits due to nesting birds, sensitive vegetation, etc
  • Golf carts ONLY (to be supplied by production and have proper insurance) on pathways.
  • Cameras must be hand–held or on tripod, lighting must be stand-alone. The bridges and railings are not to be utilized for rigging equipment.
  • Camera locations to be on existing pathways ONLY. If alternative area required, please contact your PNE representative to discuss.
  • Trees are to remain as is (i.e. tie backs not permitted) • Generator placement to be overseen by PNE electrical department due to underground utilities.
  • Production to place PA in strategic locations on pathways to temporarily cease foot traffic. Park users to have access at all times, other than intermittent when rolling.

ITALIAN GARDENS

  • Curfew is 7:00am–11:00pm, Monday to Thursday; 7:00am–12 midnight, Friday and Saturday.
  • If filming is expected to go past the existing curfew, please contact the City Film Office to apply for curfew extensions. The PNE requires a copy of this permit prior to filming, and will review and consider the authorization.
  • Production to paper the neighbourhood minimum 2 days prior to filming.
  • Painting of existing structures is strictly forbidden.
  • PNE Public Safety attendant (Film Liaison) to be with production at all times during filming and is to be charged back to production.

SKATE PARK

  • The Skateboard Coalition is to be notified at the time of inquiry. Please ask your PNE representative for contact info.
  • Curfew is 7:00am-11:00pm Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 12 midnight Friday and Saturday.
  • If filming is expected to go past the existing curfew, please contact the City Film Office to apply for curfew extensions. The PNE requires a copy of this permit prior to filming, and will review and consider the authorization.
  • Staking is permitted in certain areas only. Please contact your PNE representative to discuss.
  • PNE Public Safety attendant (Film Liaison) to be with production at all times during filming and is to be charged back to production.
  • Production to attach a Notice of Filming sign and paper the neighbourhood a minimum of 2 days prior to filming. Signage is to be placed on the entrance gate and must state date(s) and times of filming, the name of the production and contact information of the Location Manager.

MILLER DRIVE

  • This roadway is shared between PNE, guests of the Hastings Racetrack and the general public.
  • Impact of filming on racetrack must be determined between Production and PNE Sales.
  • Some areas are operated separately between PNE & Hastings Racetrack. Please ask your PNE Sales representative for clarification.
  • PNE Parking Attendant & Liaison is required on site during the filming.
