Tanner Olsen Band

August 20, 21, 23  |  1:30 & 2:30pm

Nights spent in high school listening to country music at tailgate parties on the banks of the Fraser River near their hometown farming community of Chilliwack, BC is what drew Tanner Olsen, Graeme Fugger and RJ Poland together. While the friends kept in touch while going to university, it was an opportunity to play eight shows in three days at a country fair that allowed the friends to get back to their roots and love of music. From that event The Tanner Olsen Band took flight crafting their sound and performing with their infectious energy all over the West.

With over a half million collective streams to date, they have worked hard to make their mark in the Canadian country music scene.  Winners of the BCCMA Emerging Artist Award (2020) and multiple songwriting and battle of the band wins, their sound and high energy has been compared to the likes of country superstar Morgan Wallen with the grit and harmonies of the Brothers Osborne. Last year they released their debut EP Stretchin’ Denim, along with their new single Treated me Well.

Friends, fun and music is the perfect combination, so make sure you come catch the rising star of the Tanner Olsen Band.

Formed in 1979, the band gained popularity playing venues such as the iconic Town Pump, the Commodore, Richards on Richards, 86th Street as well as being a regular feature at Whistler’s Buffalo Bills. The band enjoyed great radio support in the early years having recorded many singles and a live album, Live at the Five, which is where it all started. More recently the band recorded a CD/DVD set at the Hard Rock Casino.

A few years ago, the powerful vocals of Nathen Aswell were added to those of Joani Bye, with vocal augmentation by Billy Mendoza, Peter Juric and Tim Porter. The funky powerhouse rhythm section features Tim Porter’s searing guitar stylings, Billy Mendoza pounding the bass, keyboard wizard Bill Sample and Rick Hill driving the whole section on drums. Steve Hilliam (tenor sax), Peter Juric (trumpet), Colin Weinmaster (trombone) and Bill Abbott (alto sax) form the outstanding “brass kicking ass” horn section.

The Allstars always enjoy reconnecting with their loyal fans of many years and finding new ones along the way.
