Difficulty level: 1

Ingredients

MARINADE:
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1/4 cup Mirrin
1 TBSP Ponzu
2 TBSP White Vinegar
1/2 pound Marinating Sirloin Steak, 1/4 inch thick

FRIED “RICE”:
1 1/2 cups cooked quinoa
1 cup diced cauliflower
1/4 cup bean sprouts, blanched
1/2 cup fresh button mushrooms
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 TBSP jalepeno, chopped
2 TSP toasted sesame seed oil
3 TBSP canola or other vegetable oil
3 TSBP water

PAN SAUCE:
2/3 cup marinade
2 TSP garlic powder
2 TBSP jalepeno, chopped
1 TSP toasted sesame oil
1/3 cup cream cheese
3/4 cup cherry or grape tomatoes, halved

Instructions

STEAK: Mix all marinade ingredients together in a medium size bowl, and add the steak, tossing it in the marinade to get it coated completely. Let sit on counter for 10-15 minutes. Once the steak has been marinatiing for at least 10 minutes, put a small fry pan on the stove on high heat and pour in 2 TBSP of vegetable oil and let get smoking hot. Put in the steak and let sear without moving for 2 minutes. Turn over and sear on other side for 1 minute, at a high heat. Remove from pan and let sit on cutting board to rest.

“FRIED RICE”: Put a pan on the stove and turn the heat on to med-high. Add the 3 TBSP of canola oil to heat up. Dice the cauliflower and add to the pan, let cook 2-3 minutes, stirring a couple of times. Chop up the garlic, jalepeno and mushooms and add to the cauliflower. Toss and let cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the water and cover to let steam for 4 minutes. Take off the lid and let any remaining moisture evaporate. Add the bean sprouts and the quinoa. Toss well, add in the toasted sesame seed oil, and fry the “rice”.

PAN SAUCE: Turn down the heat to medium on the pan that you cooked the steak in and add the marinade, cream cheese, chopped jalepeno, garlic powder, toasted sesame seed oil and halved tomatoes. Stir well, and let cook 4-5 minutes until the cream cheese is melted into the marinade and the tomatoes have softened. Serve steak with the “fried rice” and pour over the pan sauce. Serves 2.
